Why per-employee instead of a flat fee?

You pay for what you use. A 5-person team and a 200-person team have very different needs, and the price scales with you. No tiered overage walls, no surprise upsells when you grow.

What's the difference between Starter and Growth?

Starter has the essentials — payroll computation, statutory taxes, payslips, bank file export, employee self-service, leave, and up to 2 admins. Growth adds automated payouts (bank and mobile money), salary advances, lender integrations, deduction remittance, a general ledger, priority support, and unlimited admins.

What does Managed Payroll include?

We run the cycle for you — compute, review, file with the tax authorities, remit, and orchestrate payments. You sign off, we execute. $15 per employee per month, with a monthly minimum on smaller teams.

What is Employer of Record (EOR)?

Curra becomes the legal employer of your team in-country. Contracts, payroll, taxes, statutory contributions, and benefits are on us. You manage the work. $240 per employee per month.

Which countries does Curra support?

Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Ghana. Each one is fully compliant out of the box — local tax rules, statutory deductions, and payment rails.

What statutory taxes are computed automatically?

Uganda: PAYE, NSSF, LST. Kenya: PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, Housing Levy, AHL. Nigeria: PAYE (NTA 2025), Pension (CPS), NHF, NSITF, ITF. Rwanda: PAYE (Law 027/2022), RSSB, Maternity Leave Fund. Ghana: PAYE (GRA progressive), SSNIT Tier 1, SSNIT Tier 2.

Can I run payroll in multiple countries?

Each Curra account runs payroll in one country. If you operate across more than one, you'll set up a separate account per country today. Multi-country accounts are coming.

How do you keep up with tax changes?

When laws change — Kenya rolling out SHIF, Rwanda revising PAYE brackets — we ship the update before the next payroll cycle. You don't have to do anything.

How do I pay for my subscription?

Card via Stripe, straight from the dashboard. Click Upgrade, choose Starter or Growth, enter your card. Stripe handles billing, retries, invoices, and receipts.

Do you accept local currency or just USD?

Subscriptions are billed in USD. Stripe converts to your card's local currency at checkout. Local payment options (mobile money, bank transfer) for subscriptions are on the way.

Can I pay by bank transfer or mobile money?

Yes for Enterprise, Managed Payroll, and EOR — by arrangement. For Starter and Growth, card payment is the only self-serve option today.

How does the per-employee count work for billing?

We charge for active employees at the start of each billing period. Add someone mid-month and they're counted next cycle. Terminate someone and the count drops next cycle.

What happens if my payment fails?

Your subscription moves to past-due and you'll see a banner in Settings. Stripe retries automatically. If it doesn't recover, you drop back to the Free plan — your data stays.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel from Manage Billing in Settings. You keep paid features until the end of the current period, then move to Free. Reactivate whenever you like.

Where do I get invoices?

Settings → Manage Billing → the Stripe billing portal. All invoices live there with download links.

What if I make a mistake on a payroll run?

Every run is reviewable before you approve it. If something's wrong after approval, you can void the run before payments go out. Once money has moved, corrections happen on the next cycle.

Do employees get their own login?

Yes — magic-link, no passwords. They see payslips, request leave and advances, view deduction history, and update their info. Included on every plan.

Does Curra pay employees directly?

Your call. In Employer Files mode we generate the bank file and you upload it. In Curra Executed mode we send the payments via mobile money or bank transfer — but only after we've verified you've funded the run. Curra Executed is on Growth and above.

Which payment rails are supported?

Bank transfers in every country we support, plus mobile money where applicable — MTN, Airtel/AirtelTigo, Vodafone Cash. Each employee picks their own.

How does funding verification work?

Before any payment goes out, we check that your funded amount matches the run totals — net pay, statutory, third-party deductions. If it's short, nothing moves. No half-paid payrolls.

Do employees get salary advances?

Yes, on Growth and above. Employees request through their portal, HR approves, the contract is signed digitally, and repayment is deducted from payroll until the balance clears.
